Yes that's now one of the classic lines of movie history for me. I used to think Jimmy Stewart was so kind and gentle after seeing Its a Wonderful Life so many times. Between this movie and Winchester 73, its given me a whole new level of appreciation for him as an actor!

Love that scene! I showed this movie to my daughter (teen at the time) and after Glyn's response she said "Cool!".
"Madame meets many people, but she usually avoids the mad ones."
Yeah, anytime I hear somebody talk about Jimmy Stewart's acting as "Aw shucks", I tell them to watch this movie, Naked Spur, Man From Laramie, just about any western he did after the war.
That scene pretty much changes their mind, or in Winchester 73 when he is "questioning" Dan Duryea.
on james stewart page I posted a thread about him being Americas greatest actor..he could do any genre from tough guy to comedy and bend of the river is one reason why I believe this
shareI totally agree. That was my favorite scene in the movie. From the look in Jimmy Stewarts eyes, you could tell that was a promise he was going to keep.
