Do you like the 51 or 82 version better? The new 2011 version will apparently be a prequel to the 1982 movie...

This one is garbage.

It looks like a god damn carrot.

It's so stupid.

Puck the 1951 Thing, it doesn't even follow the original story that well at all.

Well, hating the film is your perogative. But claiming it looks like "a god damn carrot" is a "stupid" comment in and of itself. They refer to it as a giant carrot because it has the same genetic make up as a vegetable. But IT doesn't look like a carrot, it looks like Frankenstien.

Both were very good...but the original 1951 clearly has an edge, just because its the original...

Not really...The 80's version does..It's on the top 250. This one is in the top 5000..thats gotta say something

Where are these Top Lists? Which is in the Top 5000 only? John Carpenter selected the 1951 as his first pick the night he co-hosted TCM and the 1982 was a remake of 1951 and he was hesitant to remake such a classic.

We just watched both these earlier versions with the idea of seeing the 2011 version. The 1951 and 82 versions both have pros and cons, tho the original will always be an original creature feature, the 82 will always be more popular.

You could argue that the '82 film was not a remake, though it is considered one. It was based on the original story -- not on the '51 film.

I adore both of them.

The 2011 version is a pale shadow of both for me and has some very questionable CGI effects.
