The first full body burn?

One of the trivia posts says "The scene in which The Thing is doused with kerosene and set ablaze is believed to be the first full body burn accomplished by a stunt man." - Not sure if this is true. Check out "Manhattan Melodrama" with Clark Gable, filmed in 1934. In the steamship fire scene in the first 10 minutes of the movie, a man emerges from a burning room, completely engulfed in flames it's not fake, he's walking and flailing his arms. Perhaps "this" was the first time a full body burn was done on film - I don't know; but I don't think "The Thing" was the first after seeing this.

Well...Maybe they mean from 'start of full body burn'; if the guy from Manhattan Melodrama emerged on fire I think it would be different from the stuntman in 'The Thing' actually being set on fire on film.

Why can't you wretched prey creatures understand that the Universe doesn't owe you anything!?
