Awful movie!

The performances were shallow and the script hollow!

The performances were outstanding.
Sure you can say the story is a bit thin but it's done masterfully.

dc, you are just looking for attention. I hereby curse you with spending eternity as Blanche in your afterlife. Take that!

Stanley was probably the best character out of the main cast.

It's one of the greatest films in history, based on an award winning Broadway play by Tennessee Williams, one of the greatest playwrights who ever lived. And it starred the brilliant Vivien Leigh, a role for which she won the Academy Award.

Pay no attention to the man behind the curtain.

I don't think the story is thin. I find the characters very layered and intriguing. The movie raises a lot of questions that cannot be easily answered; which I thoroughly enjoy in a movie.

Is it better to be delusional in our view of the world, thinking things are better than they actually are and maybe misinterpreting reality; or better to be completely realistic and focusing on all that is dark and negative. That's the difference I see between Blanche and Stanley. Naturally, neither extreme is good but if I had to choose one I wouldn't want to be a brute.

Sometimes we create our own reality. I can imagine Blanche being just fine under the right circumstances but Stanley is basically a freak who will make a mess of whatever environment he's in. He’s delusional too.

He tells Stella how great things were before Blanche arrived but it's not true. We know, based on what Stella tells Blanche and how he acts with other people, including his supposed friends, that he's pretty much the same hot head loud mouth all the time. The only difference is other people, especially Stella, don't call him out on anything. In my opinion, it takes a lot of skill to play those roles as well as Leigh and Brando do.

I saw it for the first time, last year. Mainly, because Karl Malden was in it. The movie is overrated. I could not stand Marlon Brando's character. He was so despicable. I rate the movie 6/10.
