The first act of Show Boat is full of great songs but You Are Love is my favorite. But no movie version of Show Bboat is as good as the original stage production. My favorite recording of Show Boat is the EMI version with Frederica Von Stade as 'Nola and Jerry Hadley as Gay. The songs are longer versions of the movie numbers plus it includes ones that were cut out of the movie like Mis'rys Comin Around and Till Good Luck Comes My Way.
Especially check out what I think are the best back to back to back songs in any Broadway production - Make Believe > Ol' Man River > Can't Help Lovin' Dat Man. Much better than any of the movie versions.
