Litttle known tidbit about Showboat.
Its rather little known but the 30s London UK theater production of Jerome Kern And Oscar Hammerstein's "Showboat " from the novel by Edna Ferber featured a British character specifically for that production. His name was Roland. His one big scene was he was dancing on the Riverboat. He was rolling along. In fact he was .... Roland on the river.
