This started out as a Robert Mitchum action movie and ended up being a Vincent Price comedy. Price just takes over this movie. It is also interesting to note that Johnny Depp worked with both of them, Price in Edward Scissorhands and Mitchum in Deadman.

Agreed. He's one of the main reasons I own it. Price totally steals the last part of the movie, which is ironic, since it's been built up to the Mitchum/Burr showdown.

Such an atypical part for Price, the inept comedy relief that becomes the dashing hero!
