Happy ending? Think again.

I assume the coroner would be called in sooner or later by her friend, the doctor. Correct me if I'm wrong, but when the coroner fixes the time of death, wouldn't there be questions on why he was notified 5 or 6 hours after the time of death? Why did the wife wait so long, in other words?

There is no "off" position on the genius switch.

I know the "time of death" ploy is often used in films but i have been informed by reliable sources that it isn't an exact science and cannot be pinned down to an exact hour.Furthermore, Loretta Young told several people, the little boy, the salesman, the aunt, that her husband wasn't well and needed abundant rest; it's reasonable to suppose she might have left him alone an hour or two without disturbing him, since the doctor at no time said his life was in imminent danger. Thus, until she decided to look in on him, his death could be reasonably be said to have remained undiscovered for some time after its occurrence. The more troubling aspect would be the bullet in the floor, which a keen eye would observe and perhaps question.

And the mail man might remember her desperate fight for the letter that her husband tried to send to the district attorney...
