Happy 70th Birthday!

70 years ago tonight, CBS brightened a fall Monday night with the ILL debut, "The Girls Want to Go to a Nightclub."

A legendary ritual began, and for the following six seasons, Lucy, Ricky Fred and Ethel delighted TV audiences with their quarrels, antics, trips to Hollywood and abroad. And in today's fairly messed up world, people are STILL watching.

Just a few days ago, I overheard my neighbors, a couple in their late 20s, watching the show on a local station, mid-afternoon. The episode was "Lucy Goes on a Foxhunt." So...Lucy still captivates.

Happy 70th birthday to the most influential TV show in history! I will definitely be watching "Nightclub" tonight.
