Harvey + Vertigo

If one has seen both pics then one can surmise just what a great actor Stewart really is !

Totally unlike the characters played;

Although interestingly insanity can be injected in either role but with a widening interpretation.

Dream-like states ?

Again,what an actor our man,James is and what 2 classics these films are when there was a Hollywood and a Golden Age...alas.

Anatomy Of A Murder, The Shop Around The Corner, The Man Who Shoot Liberty Valance is different from the movies. I agree. He was/is one if the most talented actors in Hollywood. He is in so many great movies and classics.

I think that there is a wider contrast between his role in 'Harvey' and those tough characters that he was playing in the dark westerns of the early 1950s. I was watching his fall towards the end of 'Rear Window' the other day which seems to be a foretaste of his later fear in 'Vertigo.'

He showed great range in one role -- in the second Thin Man movie, After the Thin Man. Strongly recommended!
