We're the Stepfamily nice while Cinderella's father was around?

I was just wondering if Lady Tremaine, Anastasia, and Drizella ever nice at one point when Cinderella's dad was alive.

Orrrr were they manipulative by ONLY being nice in the father's presence but being cruel to Cinderella when she was alone and demanding her to keep her mouth shut???

I guess that they were superficially nicer back then, even if they still did some things when the father didn't see it. Then he died and everything went downhill for Cindy...
