Bad stereotype for women of all ages...

Just watched this and it hit me like a ton of bricks.

This movie teaches women that you'll have a crap life until some super rich and handsome guy comes along and NOTHING else will do.
It teaches women to believe in a psychotically high standard they can't possibly get.
It also teaches them that other women are treacherous scum bags who will slit your throat to get the same man as you.
It teaches them that it has to be love at first sight, it cant grow naturally informing women that unless they orgasm on sight he's not the right one for you

Does this help explain the dismissive attitudes of modern women? Look at the dating websites around and see the lines women have 'Looking 4 white knight, looking to be swept off my feet.'
The same could be said for Sleeping beauty.
A modern day version of Cinderella is just Pretty woman, same deal, beautiful girl falls in love with the super rich good looking hero whilst most other women of similar stature treat her like crap.

Is this the same reason most women seem to hate and suspect their stepmother because of Disney? God knows I've seen enough of this in my time.

These seem to be movies all women watch as a kid or teen, including something like say Dirty dancing.
A mousy girl who is swept away by Patrick Swayze more programming that does seem to stick with women, you cant settle for anything less than either a super rich handsome man or handsome talented, dancing bad-boy.

Don't get me wrong I'm not a sexist and I'm sure there will be male versions of this but this does explain a lot in my view.

Rant over.

You must be great at parties.

I suppose being a scowling, foul mouthed, ball-breaking, violent, ruthless, tempermental ass-kicking grrrrrrrrrrrrl who exposes her tits at the drop of a hat is a far better role model.

Explains what?

Can't stop the signal.

Do you realize that Cinderella didn't even know that he was the prince until later, when the Grand Duke set out to find her?

While it would have been nice to have other women around to offset this, Cinderella's stepsisters and stepmother don't necessarily represent all women. In fact, Cinderella herself makes for an excellent counterexample.

The movie does not say or imply that this is the only way. An actual example of something like that, if you need one, would be Hotel Transylvania with its silly notion of the "zing," but Cinderella espouses no such notion, nor any such exclusivity.

If it's anything at all, I think it's more likely the result of the increasing sense of entitlement that people seem to have these days than anything you're reading into Disney's Cinderella. Plus more generally it can help to aim high even if you'd be willing to settle for less. 

Wasn't Briar Rose (Aurora) devastated when she learned that she was a princess who was betrothed to some prince? She wanted to marry the guy she had met in the forest instead. Likewise, didn't Phillip refuse to marry the princess to whom he was betrothed, choosing instead to marry the peasant girl he had met in the forest? The fact that they happened to be betrothed to each other is irrelevant because neither was aware of the fact. How does any of this imply that either of them would settle for no less than royalty? It was quite the opposite, actually, as intended by Disney in Sleeping Beauty as well as Cinderella.

Have you ever stopped to consider that maybe instead of being the result of watching a movie, this could more likely be the natural feeling that one gets when it seems that one's mother is being replaced by somebody they don't know, and they don't really have a say in it? Not that this is fair, but such suspicion is a natural reaction under the circumstances nonetheless.

Rant misinformed.

I'm sorry, but did you miss that this is a fairy-tale? It was never supposed to be super-realistic (even if the abuse against Cinderella is realistic enough).

I'm getting tired of narrow-minded, judgemental, comments made by modern thinkers, who believe their way is the only way, and an old German Fairytale brought to the screen by Disney, is the wrong way.

They're aren't modern day thinkers if they're like that. They're just sheep

It's called Disney logic.

Plus, it wasn't just her beauty that was attractive. It was her kindness and good nature and makes people love her

Consider when Cinderella was written, there was no such thing as the feminist movement. Women were considered second class citizens. That'd explain your post. However, it's fiction and it was relevant and appropriate during its times. It is now a classic.

Practically every fairy tale from that period had the same message. Princesses were helpless and had to be rescued by a prince. If you have beef with Cinderella then you just have beef with almost every classic fairy tale. Just enjoy it for what it is. I'd still read these stories to my children as long as I teach them values and self worth.
