'But you see...I have the other slipper'

Am I the only one who absolutely LOVES it when Cinderella pulls out the slipper in the end and finally sticks it to her Stepmother?

I think it's one of the best 'twist' endings in a Disney movie because by that time you get so caught up in the mad rush to get Cinderella out of the attic that you almost forget that she still has the other slipper.

So when she pulls it out in the end it's just so satisfying, and even as a kid I always cheered at that moment.

The Stepmother was one of those villains who you just really WANTED to see get her just deserts for the horrible way she treated Cinderella.

For example Maleficent was an awesome villain in Sleeping Beauty (another childhood favorite) probably the coolest villain of all time... but seeing her defeated didn't give me that same level of satisfaction that seeing Cindy finally stick it to her Stepmother did.

The Stepmother was one of those villains whom you could REALLY despise and look forward to seeing defeated.

I'm bumping my post because I can't believe all of the negative threads on this entry.

This is a great film. I like it. Kids like it. Parents like. Decent people like.

Oh sure, some people just like it, some people just like the animation or technical aspects, but those people still like it, and it's a darn good film all around.

I really wish there was an age requirement to post here.

You're right. It's pretty fitting because you can see Tremaine thinks she's won & we do too because we forget about that slipper, more concerned about her getting out.

I'd say the main problem with Maleficent's (& Ursula's for that matter) defeat is how relatively easy they go down.
They have powerful magic at their disposal, but are killed through a direct & rather unsatisfactory fight (though I'll give props to Prince Eric for having the seamanship to steer a ship in a massive whirlpool into Ursula's gut).

If you're happy and you know it, go sit in the corner and think about your life.

I see what you mean and agree from that perspective, but on the other hand, personally I find this sort of defeat satisfying in a different way, because it proves that for all the power they possessed they were still just chunks of meat like the rest of us, and often it was their arrogance/hubris that brought them down, as much as anything else. Yeah, that's closer to being an overused trope, but I still like the irony and message of something so awesomely powerful being brought down by something so mundane. The evil and harm was what they had done earlier, while getting what they wanted near the end (at least in the case of Ursula) only resulted in a swift, embarrassing death.

Lady Tremaine's defeat was so satisfying because few if any saw it coming in this case, and when it did it was like BAM you lose!  Only recently have there been twists this good, in their own ways, in Disney animated features, and I'm thinking specifically of Tangled when Eugene cut Rapunzel's hair and Frozen when Anna saved herself instead of being saved, but despite being more meaningful none of them are as immediately and viscerally satisfying as Cinderella pulling out the other slipper (so simple and understated yet so impactful--just ask Lady Tremaine ). It was definitely her "Moment of Awesome."

It's probably my favorite part of the movie!

It's a shame Cinderella, both the movie and the character, are so underrated today.

It's a great way for Cinderella to come out on top, and having bested her stepmother without the typical 'let me tell you where to get off, you miserable-' bit that most would claim they'd do if they were in her position.

One of the greatest *beep* YEAH moments in movie history. You just know she was just beaming on the inside once she pulled out that slipper like "Yeaaah, what now! Can't do **** now, can ya?! I'mmmm outta here!" She's better than me, I'd be talking SOOOO much smack after that 

That alone makes Cindy one of Disney's most awesome badasses. That was just such a pimp move she pulled. Can't get enough of it. 

I think what makes Lady Tremaine scary, is the same thing that makes Frollo scary...they could exist.

Lady Tremaine has no magic, she's not out to conquer the world or become all powerful, she's just a bitter, jealous woman who takes pleasure in abusing her stepdaughter because she's everything her daughters are not.

Her evil is very real and that's what makes it scary because their are people like that in real life.

It was the best. Def a ~Hellfire~ moment the way Cinderella pulls that one out of her pocket in the end.
