Digitally Restored Version

Does anyone remember a digitally restored version of 12 O'Clock High being shown on TMC or the Discovery Channel or such? I'm 90% sure the restored version exists, but I can't find it to purchase.

I have the earlier DVD release of this fine movie, one of my favorites. It is a pretty fair transfer. http://tinyurl.com/ypjt62

I wish that the reviewer here, or at Amazon for that matter, would provide some details about the new release itself, such as whether the feature is on a dual layer disc or just what; is it restored/remasterd? I noticed that the extras for the new release of 12 O'Clock High are listed as Side A/Side B or a "flipper" disc which is not at all encouraging. Flippers are an outmoded technology which is not usually the way first class releases are done these days. It makes me wonder about the rest of the DVD.

The extras would be nice, but these days a first class transfer is expected. This difference is very noticeable even without playing them on an upconverting DVD player on a High Def TV set.

i hope the sound on the DVD is better than what they are playing on AMC. The hiss on the soundtrack is louder than the dialogue in some of the quieter scenes.

The one I just saw it my local PBS station and it was a pretty good print.

I watched the same sitting, and enjoyed it immensely. I don't think I had seen it before, and I was moved by the story. I agree with the review on the front page that this is a monumental piece of work.

And, I agree that the sound quality was quite acceptable.

I also recently received a free copy from Fox (and Kellogg's, after buying 5 boxes of qualifying cereal products). Haven't checked it out yet, but the price was certainly unbeatable!

I watched the TV series when it was showing back in the '60s. Too long ago to remember much, but I was a regular viewer.
