Greetings and here is some information for you on my number one all time favorite film, Tweleve O'Clock High. A few years ago I saw a CD at Barnes & Noble and bought it right away ..it was the soundtrack to the film and one called... " Down To The Sea in Ship", starring Richard Widmark. Both are 20th century films. Here is a list of music from the film ....... Alfred Newman was the composer on the film and he did many wonderful works during his time , he worked a great deal with the films director Henry King.
1. Main title
2 The Airfield
3. Home on the Range
4. Don't Sit Under the Apple Tree
5. Bless'em All
6. Deep In The Heart of Texas
7. The Wiffenproof Song
8. Finale/End cast
9. Alterbate Main Title
10. Trailer Score
11. Alternate Trailer Score
If you get a copy of the newly released version of the film, the second disc has many extras with film historians and the making of the film which talks about the films soundtrack. I am sure you can find it on Amazon.com. 20th Century Fox last year released several of its films like this. You can see that Alfred Newman incorporated several real wartime 1940 favorites of the crews in the Eighth and well GI's everywhere...... like " Don't Sit Under The Apple Tree.... Deep IN The Heart of Texas.... Bless'em All...etc ! Try this email address for the CD..... www.screenarchives.com a phone number is listed as 540-635-2575. There is really no "name" of the title song per say..... the complete title for this CD is as follows !
DOWN TO THE SEA IN SHIPS/TWELEVE O'CLOCK HIGH SAE-CSR-0005
Like many here this flim holds a special place in out hearts.... I could talk about this film 24/7 and have been a long time associate member of The Mighty Eighth Historical Society. Ever since I saw this film years ago as a youth it has taken me to study the history of Eighth Air Force and meet many veterans of the air war over europe ! Been to the UK many times and just walked around the old bases of the Eighth...feeling well a bit like Maj Stovall.... if those old building and runways could talk ! Even at this late date ..now Jan 2008 you can still find some Eighth veterans in your community..seek them out before its to late and talk to them about their time over the Reich. I have head some most amazing stories from them. Hope this information helps in your search. If I can be of futher assistance feel free to drop me a email. I enjoy talking about this important film that has given all of us who have followed that generaion ...a small window into that time period of history! God Bless the men of The Mighty Eighth !!!
