Gregory Peck's Best Performance

Although Atticus Finch is always mentioned, I think this is Gregory Peck's finest performance. Here, he is acting as someone who is acting in front of his troops. It is said in the film, Savage is no different than Davenport. This is true, except Savage doesn't wear his emotions on his sleeve. My favorite seen is when Savage is told the pilots have withdrawn their transfer requests. It appears Savage is on the verge of crying, but fights it back and uses the excuse of looking for his briefcase so he can turn away from the others. Gregory Peck is obviously one of the greatest movie stars of all time. Here, he show he is also one of the greatest actors.
