The Ultimate Film Noir Collection - released May 2

Is anyone familiar with the DVD collection metioned in the subject line of my post? It's to be released on May 2 and includes the movie who's board I am posint on. I am just wondering if anyone has heard whether or not this collection includes quality versions of the films. It's at Amazon.com for $14.99 and includes 10 movies. That's a heck of a deal, but I'm worried about the old saying "You get what you pay for." If anyone has heard a review on this collection or knows that the movies are of a watchable quality. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!

very good film quality and a bargain for so many movies -- Impact in particular is good work

Agree that there are some great old films in this inexpensive collection. Great value but DVD's not all great quality. Besides "Impact", there is a good print of a Dick Tracy serial that I had never seen before. Recommended.

I got _Impact_ on a 50 Mystery Classics collection as a birthday present, no idea how much it cost. I just finished the first 25 movies. Other good films in the first 25 include Scarlett Street, Kansas City Confidential and Algiers. Most of the others are at least average; only a small few are not good.

The '50 Mystery Classics' is the best deal I've ever seen on DVDs. The print on 'The Man On The Eifel Tower' shows why Ansco never made a big contribution to the film industry. That being said, I had never seen the movie prior to this collection and I find it facinating.

I know this is a late reply, but why not?

I have the collection and overall I am very happy with it. This film looks and sounds great in fact. All of the movies have an annoying little logo in the lower right corner, that never wavers and never leaves. Eventually you tune it out but it's still an obnoxious thing for them to do.

Not all of the films included are beautiful prints, but enough are to make it a great bargain. I was particularly excited when I put in "Detour," as this is one of my all-time favorites, and the print looked extraordinary compared to what I was used to. Unfortunately the film was badly chunked up, and major pieces of dialog were missing. Like I say, I've seen the film, and it has some great dialog. So not all is perfect.

Anyways overall it's a nice set and this movie looks great on it. Hope this helps. You have probably bought it and worn it out by now.
