I know he is the grand nephew of the Lone Ranger, but I would like to know if there are any comic books or particular tv episodes that mention this. I know it was in some comic book but I'm not sure which ones. email me [email protected]
What I do know is that the origin of the Reid family wealth is derived from the secret silver mine managed by Jim Blaine, a retired Texas Ranger and partner with the Reid brothers (John and Daniel). Daniel was murdered in the ambush at Bryant's Gap with four other Rangers. John survived the ambush with help from Tonto and became the Lone Ranger.
Both Blaine and John Reid died childless thus passing ownership of the mine to Dan Reid, Jr., the Lone Ranger's nephew and father to Britt Reid, the Green Hornet.
An interesting fact about Dan Reid, Jr. was that like his uncle John, he was also the sole survivor of an ambush. This was an ambush by renegade Indians on the wagon train carrying young Dan and his mother Linda to Texas to reunite with his father, Captain Daniel Reid of the Texas Rangers. A widow in the prairie, known only by the name, "Grandma Frisby," adopted young Dan. The Lone Ranger by coincidence discovered young Dan and paid his way through college. Grandma Frisby, besides Tonto and Dan, is the only person who saw the Lone Ranger without his mask.
I've read somewhere that in one of the "Green Hornet" origin stories Brit was also a sole survivor of an ambush as well. Is this the original origin story? If so, then that's another connection between the three.
