In the episode entitled "The Sheriff of Smoke Tree", Season 5, Episode 2 or Episode #184, after the jail is blown up, where does the sheriff take the bad guy? PLEASE help!

If this is the ep. I think it is, the young sheriff takes him down into a mine shaft, his henchmen try to "smoke them out" and the bad guy dies from the smoke.
The LR and Tonto arrive in time to rescue the young sheriff and capture the henchmen. I would assume they were held in the shaft after the smoke cleared

I haven't seen this episode, but I believe according to Texas law in those days, if a jail was not in service, the sheriff had every right to shoot or hang a bad guy. My guess is he shot him dead
