The question he gets stuck on is "What was the Lone Ranger's nephew's horse's name." The mother answers right away, "Victor" as if everyone should know it. Don't know if it was mentioned on the television show, but we oldsters remember it from the radio show.

My, you're nosey, aren't you?
Some years ago, I won two tickets to a movie theater because I knew how the Lone Ranger got the silver to make his bullets. I had just come down for breakfast and my wife told me that the local radio station was playing "Trivia Pursuit," the nostalgia craze game of the 70's. They wanted to know where the Lone Ranger got his silver bullets. After gulping a cup of coffee to wake up my memory, I called the station. Don't recall if my conversation went over the radio or not, but I told the DJ that the Lone Ranger had a silver mine (which had been jointly owned by he and his brother, Dan. The Ranger had a retired Texas Ranger named Jim work the mine while he and Tonto were away chasing outlaws. Occasionally, on radio anyway, they would make mention of the fact that the Ranger and Tonto stopped by the silver mine to pick up some more bullets and also some silver coins to buy supplies. Since Tonto always went to town to get supplies, they never questioned the fact that this Indian always had silver coins or silver bars with him to pay for everything. They could have had a story about outlaws trying to find where the silver mine was. Anyway, the DJ was impressed with my knowledge of the Lone Ranger and I got the tickets. Although most people recall the television show with fond memories, the radio show was even better because Fred Foy's dramatic narration. In your mind, you could see the Lone Ranger fighting off the renegades with his last silver bullet when Silver and Tonto arrived in the nick of time, bringing reinforcements.
shareI just saw the episode, "Dan Reid's Sacrifice", and Victor was an important part in it.
Dan is meeting up with his Uncle & Tonto while on vacation from college. Some horse thieves shoot him, and steal Victor, because he's such a good looking horse. The guys hear the shot and find Dan wounded. They've been trying to find these horse thieves, and set up a plan to get Victor back & put the horse thieves in jail.
It is mentioned more than once that Silver is Victor's sire.
