In the Slaughter on 10th Avenue number, I kept having to remind myself that it was no Doris Day dancing with Kelly. I could not believe how much Vera-Ellen looked like Day! Of course I know Day couldn't dance like Vera-Ellen but the resemblance was uncanny.

In her youth, Day trained to be a dancer, until her legs were badly injured in a car crash. But singing and acting turned out to be her strong talents. Chances are she never would have been a dancer on Vera-Ellen's level.
