I intially didn't know which direction the film was taking,but,in the beginning,the Duke had all the "makings"of a Captain Bligh !

In real life Bligh was a great navigator and nowhere the monster he was made out to be.
Bligh joined the Royal Navy as an ordinary sailor and worked his way up through the ranks to command ships. He was demonised by friends of the dissolute Fletcher Christian who was not half the seaman Bligh was.
