That's a short party.
That party couldn't have lasted more than 40 minutes, which is very short for a dinner party. Anyone else find this a little odd? Other than that, excellent movie.

shareI was thinking the same thing. If Hitch wasn't so obsessive about the one-shot gimmick, he could have done something to imply that more time had passed.

The hosts were leaving that evening, so the guests knew it would be a short party.
I think that the party was intended to be a bit longer, but it was cut short because the murder victim's father was so concerned about his son. That business put a damper on things. Once the victim's father and his sister (or was it sister-in-law?) left, the others took the hint and left as well. Also, I think that the other young adults wanted to leave because of the awkward business of their break-up weeks (or months) earlier.
Brandon was really toying with everyone's emotions. The guests sensed it and they didn't really want to stay any longer.
