jellied tongue?

This was the supper his wife mentioned (before he had to leave--LOL)--I was so curious I looked it up and apparently it was common mid-century. There is a website for mid-century cooking and I looked it up. It sounds pretty gross to me and also to the blogger. If you want to know, look up "Mid-Century Blogger", which is an excellent site, and it gives a recipe for this. (If you can stomach it.) Funny how you find the strangest things through movies. It is a bit of history of food, which is what this blog promotes, and thank you for doing that--there's a lot of food from the 50s, 60, etc. that brings back old memories..

I guess you didn't grow up in New York! Tongue is still a deli favorite here. I grew up on the stuff and order it all the time. And by the way, once you've eaten it you'll want more!

I'd rather scarf braunschweiger and chipped ham than jellied tongue, anyday.

*__* Yikes. Makes me even gladder to be vegetarian. And I live near New York; I've been there plenty of times...never seen anybody sell or order a...tongue. *retch* _._

Go to the Big Apple Market, on 9th Avenue between 39th & 40th Streets. You'll find beef tongue for sale in the meat section. Very popular in real delis here.

Eeeep...I'd rather not see it...I mean, sure, it's better to use every part and waste nothing, but...still. I just can't. 
