Whenever the Catholic Church is sorry that they've burned an innocent

person alive they make them into saints. What they don't realize and refuse to concede is that Joan was already a saint before they murdered her. She heard the voice of God and expressed His will. As Jesus brought a message that was very unpopular and employed methods that were antithetical to the message of the day (do God's will through labor) Joan dressed in men's clothing (antithetical to Catholic teaching) and so she had to be crucified (I'm sorry) destroyed in order to demonstrate the absolute authority of the Church.

Nothing in all of history is as pathetic as all this.

The Church didnt burn her, a sham trial by traitors did. The english wanted her dead and her name soiled so as to also soil the legitimacy of the French King she crowned.
The Pope however some years later did a rehabilitation trial to clear her name, exposing the sham trial as... a sham. In the rehabilitation trial is where we find the most awesome reports of her contemporaries about her.
Also she could dress as a man as the Church allows for exceptions according to circumstances.
