What did we all think of this one?
This classic 40s film-noir thriller shot from the main character's POV? Thanks, cheers, and how would we rate it?

shareI thought it was a great film, 9/10 I rate, well, actually, maybe more an 8.5 but rounded up to 9 and what's funny, its not even THE best film among the 40s and otherwise film-noir thriller classics and not even say up there with Hitchcock's best like "Vertigo" and "Psycho", which are indeed among my top 20 or so very favourite movies, but I still loved it nonetheless and also give it extra point or so for having the audacity to be THE first film ever or at least one of the VERY early pioneers of the first person point of view technique used.
And to fans of classic film noirs as well as Philip Marlowe and whatnot, highly recommended indeed.
Loved especially the point of view of the however brief car chase and the confrontation with alcohol and then the lead getting to the telephone part.
I think it's pretty good. The gimmick works better than expected.
