The Highlight of the Whole Movie

Highlight: the receptionist played by Lila Leeds. What a doll!! The rest of the movie is a total waste of time.

I kept wondering what her story was, what with all the extended eye contact. Rowr... but it all amounted to nothing, I guess.

She certainly was beautiful!

Mine is where Marlowe visits Fromsette at 4am. Audrey looks fantstic! Grrrrrrrr

reply

Agreed! Fastforwarded most of the movie and then went back to check her out again...

reply

yeah she was fun, i liked how the movie managed to sneak in one more eye contact when Marlowe leaves the christmas party.

Agreed, when Lila Leeds was onscreen, sparks flew. Otherwise, the film fizzled. Audrey Totter had her moments, but there was just too much to overcome in this dead weight noir pretender. Audrey was special though, check her out in "Tension."

For me, it was Audrey Totter, whose fascinating face and acting were the only things that made the movie watchable for me. I usually love Robert Montgomery, but this time I have nothing positive to say about him.

I liked when Marlowe said, "No. I love policemen.I love a policeman named DeGarmot.". Then Adrienne poutingly asked, "Does he love you, too?".

Woof!

Lila was a knockout! That was the kind of exposure that should have led to major stardom. Or at least a significant buildup. But, MGM still had Lana Turner, and I have a feeling LT saw that exposure as well.
