totally 'outdated' now, ironic

well,in the film anti semitism is portrayed as "just" prejudice misunderstanding, habit, or social preference
we also see a good woman is sorta like that.

however today, anti semitism ,racilism, or the similar you would mention must be portrayed as stupid, bigoted, hateful.downright evil..

do anything immoral ,silly, dirty but be .."racist"

Huh?

I don't think Kazan needed to beat people over the head with anti-semitism. It ranges from relatively passive stereotyping and jokes to concentration camps. It can come from your friends. Bad anyway you slice it and other groups get the same crap (and worse, too.)

It's not outdated because it provides a window on what people were thinking and doing in the past.

The only thing it proves to me is that filmmakers didn't think their spectators were stupid back then. Kazan lets it tho te intelligence of the spectator to judge and understand different situations. He don't need to make it all black or white.
