Celeste Holm disliked working with Gregory Peck?

The trivia section mentions this. Does anyone have details on why she found Peck unlikable to work with?

This is the first I've heard of this.

I believe Anne Baxter didn't want to work with Gregory Peck when they were going to make Yellow Sky. I've never read any explanation as to why she didn't want to work with him. Very surprising.

"Dry your eyes baby, it's out of character."

This is from the trivia section - " Celeste Holm is on record as saying that she found Gregory Peck to be no fun to work with. "

reply

I've asked her about that, and she said he was "Perfectly fine," to work with, but as the project was so very serious, he never really broke out of character.

reply

Because she's blind, deaf, and an idiot, probably.

Just kidding, i love her, but if i just had this man in front of me, it would be enough to make me happy :)

"Well, I think if people loved eachother more, they'd shoot eachother less!"

reply

That's odd. They seemed to have a wonderful chemistry on screen. I really wanted their charactors to get together.

Dearie Dot Dot Dotdo Dearie Dot, Dearie Dot Dot Dotdo Dearie dot Doo!

She said she found that Peck was not fun to work with, not that she found him unlikable. Celeste Holm did a lot of musicals and light comedies where there was humorous interaction between the actors on the set, ad libbing and hi-jinks. The subject of this film did not lend itself to that type of atmosphere and Gregory Peck was a serious actor and a thorough professional.

But she DID hate working with Bette Davis!

"I walked onto the set of All About Eve on the first day and said, 'Good Morning,' and do you know her reply? She said, 'Oh *beep* good manners'. I never spoke to her again - ever."

reply

Well, I didn't really say that she found him unlikeable, but that she disliked working with him, and wondered why. Maybe I should have phrased it differently. The trivia says "no fun to work with." Because everything I've read about him indicates he was wonderful, funny, down-to-earth, etc.

Am I anywhere near the imaginary cliff?

reply

Peck seemed to be a quite serious guy all around. Not surprising really.

reply

I really liked Celeste Holm.
It seemed she had a great deal of difficulty with a great number of people.

reply

She disliked Bette Davis for saying that but attended her AFI tribute decades later.
