This was a fine movie, and I enjoyed it very much. Greer Garson was so beautiful, wasn't she? My only complaint was there wasn't enough of Robert Mitchum. He was second-billed, but he was just a supporting player.

In a way, though, that kind of makes me appreciate the movie more, or at least Mitchum. I mean, instead of making him as the lead just because he has more fame, they used him where he fit best. I guess, what this discussion leads to is whether the actor who played the backstabbing rat was right for his role. I happen to like his job here. The epitome of slimy.

Aside from being incredibly predictable, this was quite a good movie.

i saw this movie for the ist time last night. i watched it because Mitchum is one of my all time favorite actors and Greer Garson is going to become one of my all time Favorite Actresses real fast. (i saw it on TCM where it is her month and i an becoming addicted to her.) anyway i gave it a look an though it will never become a cinema classic Like many of the others TCM shows. i really liked it (especially the photography) and i would see it again if it came on. considering all the problems they had when making it i think they did a good job with what they had to work with. its not a great movie but i think it is quite nice.

I see the low rating. Unfortunately I turned it on halfway through, but I guess I am a Greer Garson and Robert Mitchum fan - interesting pairing, I suppose, if you don't appreciate Garson that much you might even say a surprising choice. But imo she had great range, and their chemistry at the end was quite convincing.

I will try and see the whole thing.

I thought the movie was good! Reading the critics, directors, and actors comments I was expecting this movie to be horrible. Not at all.

This is why I avoid all commentary and previews prior to watching a movie. I don't really care what people think at that point but after I've seen the movie I like reading what people have to say so I visit sites like these to discuss the movie.

I was surprised to find that this movie was so hated during the time it was made. I thought it was a good movie; a lot better than many others I've seen. It's too bad Ms. Garson got hurt while making it; that's never a good thing but one would never know it watching the movie.

Woman, man! That's the way it should be Tarzan. [Tarzan and his mate]

Movie girl: Me too! I have this film I taped from TCM. I think it is just great!
Greer and Richard Hart were great in their roles, as well as the rest of the cast.

I am a big fan of Miss Garson, and have been one since I was a kid in the 60's watching her films on TV.
