Esther Howard

Does anyone know anything about how Esther Howard was in real life? Because if she was just a normal, down-to-earth lady in real life, then she's one of the best actresses I've ever seen!

She seems totally and rightously *beep* up in the film and also in "Murder, My Sweet", which are the only films I've seen her in.

Perfect timing! You just saved me from a three hour tour of the SS Lurk. -Lorelai Gilmore

I agree the parts were similar but the actress was great. In BTK, the landlady was the only person who cared about someone else.

I hadn't heard anything about her till a few days ago, when I first saw "Murder, My Sweet" and "Born to Kill". She was brilliant in both, especially in the latter, and now I would love to see more of her work!

I love her performances in just about everything she was in. My favorite from her is the role of Ms Kornheiser in Sullivan’s Travels.

Whenever I see how she delivers her performance, as well as her basic looks, I get the feeling she was a real hot number in her day.

She was by far my favorite personality in this movie, what a down to earth portrayal, and so real.Claire Trevor, was cold and snobby in this, but I liked Georgia. The men were terrible, especially the bad ones..

Re "the men were terrible." I agree except for Walter Sleazak as the blackmailing, bible-quoting private-eye. I loved his oily role. He reminded of the type of actor Victor Buono was later to become. But Esther Howard rivalled him for the best role-player in the film. Sorry that you didn't like Claire Trevor. I always like watching her.
