Hi everyone,

I LOVE this movie, and just recently got the DVD, but I wish Debbie (Karolyn Grimes) would have had more screen time. It didn't really seem like she was a part of the family. Her dad hardly paid any attention to her at all. AND...just a little trivia: Karolyn Grimes said that David Niven really didn't like children, and was quite aloof toward her on the set...

What do you think??

I think she had just enough time. It was a great movie and including the daughter anymore would have complicated it. She didn't have anything else to offer to the plot
I'll tell you who I thought was terrible however was their DOG! I don't beleive I've ever seen a pet with LESS of a personality then their dog. Absoulutly nothing going on there. (Think how great Asta was for example)

I think that generally speaking child actors are a lot of trouble because they tend not to be that good. Its part of his character that the bishop is neglecting his family because he is consumed by the idea of the cathedral. David Niven is the man and I really can't ask any more from him than he has given us in so many great movies over the years.

liked all your comments/ it's been sometime since this film was last seen/ was surfing the net & happen to catch a few seconds/ knew immediately it was the bishop's wife/ watched & thoroughly enjoyed it/ along with "miracle on 34th", "it's a wonderful life" this too is a christmas classic/ am touched to know that viewers are writing comments re this film in 2007/

I'm watching it now, and just realized that Karolyn Grimes, who played Debbie, was ZuZu in It's A Wonderful Life! She was a cutie, and luckily her line readings in this movie were quite a bit better than in IAWL.

And the kid leading the snowball fight was the same actor who played young George Bailey in "It's a Wonderful Life". Father and daughter.
