Mr. Bonner was shot with a compact semi-auto pistol, not a revolver as was stated later in the movie.
BTW: Why are there so many mystery/suspense & noir films that make this obvious error when there are script girls, continuity people, etc.?
While it seems obvious they're not the same gun, most viewers wouldn't notice or care.

It's his goof that he referred to it as a revolver when we saw that it was actually a semi-auto pistol; however, it's not a goof that someone might have said that. Most people don't know the difference and would very likely call any handgun a revolver.
