George had a chance to make himself some real money back then from the dicks who didn't want to stay with the B&L.
For instance, "Tom" (the asshole who wanted every penny back from the B&L) told everyone that Potter would pay .50c on the dollar and that if George wasn't going to give him all his money, he would go to Potter to get what he could.
What George *should* have done (and I would have) is to offer Tom .55c on the dollar and take all Tom's shares and own them.
