Scene with Potter and Uncle Billy at the bank

When UB accidentally hands Potter the money with the newspaper. There are two very noticeable edits while they are having their conversation - at least in the version they keep airing on network TV. The edits are so sloppy that the camera angle and zoom setting jump back and forth two times and you can tell it was to edit out something from the dialogue. Does anyone know what they removed? Something deemed offensive or politically incorrect perhaps?

It just looked to me like they filmed with two cameras from two different angles and cut between the two versions. It just wasn't very well done. It doesn't mean that anything was edited out or hidden. In fact I never noticed it until I saw your post.

When I used to see this on TV in the early 90s, I could have sworn Billy had his back turned and Potter swiped the envelope off the counter. I even remember the music when he did it. But on the DVD he gives it to him in the newspaper.

I think they edited it to make the swap more fluid/believable.
It didn't work.

Such goofs often seem to come up after many repeated viewings.
