And a Happy New Year to you... in jail!

Too bad he never gets what's coming to him. Have you ever seen the SNL spoof where they get revenge on Potter at the end?

reply

Loved that SNL spoof!I would've loved to have seen the look on Potter's face when he found out George was'nt going to jail!

reply

It's too bad that neither Lionel Barrymore, Thomas Mitchell, nor Henry Travers lived to see the phenomenon IAWL would become. I'm glad James Stewart, Donna Reed and Frank Capra all did get that chance.

I agree. But I've been told Mr. Potter is supposed to be like an alternate version of Ebenezer Scrooge who wasn't visited by 4 spirits.

I will agree if you will agree that:

Uncle Billy = the stupidest man in the movies that holds a position of responsibility.

Sentimental hogwash !!! Ha!

You guys ever noticed the skull head on Potters desk?

reply

Well, I know you're tying a sentiment in for this particular movie, but the most "evil" character (that had zero supernatural elements anyway) was Kris Kristofferson in Lone Star. Just a heads up for anyone who wants to see a good movie with a very good performance by KK.

reply

He sucks but I have seen far worse.

reply

Yes it seems almost unusually evil, how he shows absolutely no sign of guilt or repentance throughout the film. Even towards the end, when George joyfully whishes Mr. Potter "Merry Christmas"!! in the window. Mr. Potter stays in character as just a mean person, continually wishing only more terrible things on George. And all the while being $8,000 richer because of George.

But the thing to realize is that, when you look at the two characters, George is happy, and Mr. Potter is not.
