Good movie! Judy Garland was so charming when she was young!
Knowing her mostly from Wizard of Oz up until this point, I have started exploring more her work and have come to realize how absolutely charming she is. The Harvey Girl typifies this, featuring a young, seemingly innocent, but still feisty and energetic Garland.
I thought this was a fun and entertaining, if somewhat lightweight, MGM musical. These are the kinds of older films that make one yearn for a world the way it should be: where evil is never really all that evil, differences resolved and in the end everyone has a good time.
I was also shocked to see such a young Angela Lansbury! Apparently she was only around 20 years old, which is amazing. Having grown up on Murder, She Wrote, I didn't even realize Angela had ever been that young!
