Pip not getting tried for Helping Abel Magwitch to escape.

I did not see it on the film, or on any other tv or film adaptions of it. I read the novel some years ago and do not remember it being in there. The question is that Abel Magwitch, by coming back to the UK, was a wanted felon. Why did not Pip and Herbert Pocket not get arrested for aiding and abetting a wanted felon when they were helping him to escape?

Kind of a spoiler in your header but that is a very good point. I read the book and saw the movie and didn't even think of that...I guess neither did Charles Dickens or the moviemakers.

Or the police in the story! Thanks for your reply.
