Criterion needs to restore this classic for blu ray.

This brilliant Jean Renoir (Rules of the Game, Grand Illusion) is in dire need of a Criterion restoration. The great director's taste of America is looking pretty bad on home video. This ranks up there with Renoir's French classics. Hopefully the negative is still around for a complete restoration (2K or 4K) that only Criterion could do.

UCLA has a 35mm preservation print. But, like most of the public domain films that they have preserved, it is unlikely we will see a public release from their materials. I have a very rare original 16mm print and it has the main title "Hold Autumn In Your Hand". The alternate (original book) title may have been used for release in Canada.
