Not Very Accurate or Realistic
So they show up at their new home with no hogs, chickens, or canned food(Mason jars). What did they think they were going to eat over the winter? Dirt? No vegetables in the winter? Every Southern farmer grows collard greens, mustard greens, kale, and Swiss chard in the winter. My mother-in-law grew up on a farm in Tennessee with no electricity at the same time frame of this movie. She told me the only thing they bought at the store was flour, salt, and coffee - they produced everything else. And then we have Betty Field with perfectly coiffured hair working in a cotton field. I don't think you would find a woman that looked like her as a sharecroppers wife.
