A Song To Remember DVD 10/15/10

This is available for pre-order at moviesunlimited.com for $19.99. Amazon.com doesn't have it listed. I like the music in this movie but I'm not sure about the movie itself. I like Impromptu because it is funny, even if it is unrealistic. This movie is probably also unrealistic and not as funny.

It's like comparing apples to oranges. They were shot in two different eras of film-making. One isn't a remake of the other.

I never considered Impromptu to be a remake of A Song to Remember. The earlier film is a biography of Chopin from his childhood to the end of his life. It's mostly drama. George Sand is portrayed as a domineering woman at the end of the film, even though she tries to save Chopin's life. The newer film focuses more on George Sand/Baroness Aurora Dudevant and her friends, especially Chopin. You might almost call it a George Sand biography. It's a romantic comedy with dramatic elements.

I finally bought A Song to Remember on May 17, 2011 with The Prize, both on DVD-R from Warner Archive. Neither film is available on standard DVD. I had never seen the film before I bought it.

How is the quality?

Kramer: ...he was very impressed with what I do.
Elaine: What you do? You don't do anything!

reply

I bought both A Song to Remember and The Prize. Both are in color but The Prize is a much better movie. A Song to Remember has good video quality and good music.
