Where was this filmed?

In the commentary on the DVD it is revealed that "Deer Lake" was really Bass Lake, near Yosemite. That was a great choice, as it really does look a great deal like an Eastern lake of the Adirondacks or Maine. The surrounding hills have an Eastern look. Looking closely, I could see that the terrain by the cabin looked dry like a Western location.

The Bar Harbor scenes were faked. I think the background showing the rugged coastline, which does look like parts of Maine, was a projection upon a screen.

I wonder where the scene was filmed about 3/4 of the way through were Ellen comes out of the ocean and runs up the beach in the red bathing suit?

Where were the New Mexico scenes?? Were they really in New Mexico? Stunning. I have been in parts of New Mexico, and they might have been somewhere in the Jemez mountains. You would think they would have filmed close to Hollywood, but it doesn't look like any part of southern California.
