it has been a long time since i have seen this movie, and i have always enjoyed it.but the ending has always puzzeled me.when they go to visit thier friends in that last scene.has thier fantasy come to life???and they are no longer dis-figured???when he knocks on the door, isn't he using the hand that was cribbled?????
true,,,but it was always for them alone ,,as long as they where in the cottage..(but i know what you are saying)so you think they were still dis-figured?????
correct and know i realize what i was seeing in that last scene,,,i was seeing his hand from the eyes of laura,,thats why it didn't look deformed...because in her eyes there was no defomity....but wait a minute,,the mother played by (SB)brought them back to reality right,,by pointing everything out that they where still deformed??even at the enchanted cottage right,,and they saw each other they way they truly where...but then thier love became so great and strong.that they saw beyong the deformity.and only saw the inter person.and you see that brings me back to my origanal question was that love so strong and the effects of the cottage that it showed thier inter beauty to the outside world.you know i had forgotten how good this movie is.and how great that ending was...i have to check it out again real soon................................. thanks for the info retroLady and you can call me lefty
i remember spring in december bride,,,i don't remember her being in laramie, but if you say so ok''''' and Ms Lady,i'm not as young as your think.......... lefty
yes,you cant take it with you is one of my fav, capra's films....i love edward arnolds performance in it also...he was in underrated actor? did you ever see him in the delvil and daniel webster??? and yes young at heart is great to be wasn't that a movie title,,,,,,,young at heart, with dorris day and frank sanatra take care carl
I took the ending to mean that Oliver and Laura were back to their place of being in love with each other's inner beauties that they saw each other's exteriors as beautiful as well. By attending their friend's party they were accepting of the fact that they may still be deformed/homely to the outside world but to each they are beautiful and that's what's important.
