One of the best films I have ever seen...
I have seen this film many times in the past and it still remains one of the best films I have ever seen!

shareHaving recently read a lot of positive things about it I bit the bullet & bought a copy, which arrived a few days ago. I watched it last night & was swept away by the gentleness & sentimentality of the whole thing. What great performances from a solid cast! Dorothy McGuire has never really been a favourite of mine (probably not glamorous enough - I can be pretty shallow that way), but after seeing her in "The Enchanted Cottage" I must look up more of her work. I always enjoy watching Robert Young (a very underated actor in my opinion) & his performance, aided by the wonderful make-up job done on him, is what I have come to expect from him. And then of course there's Herbert Marshall, who I have never seen give a bad performance. It's also interesting to see Spring Byington in an unsympathetic role.
I beautiful film that tugs mercilessly at the heartstrings. I love it!!!

My grandmother got me hooked on this when I was a kid. It's such an adorable and beautiful film about true love that is truly magical. Of course, I understand it alot better now I've grown up and I've seen it so many times. They just don't make films like this anymore
shareI saw it last night for the first time, a really cool pic. I think falling in love made them look more attractive to each other. I really felt bad for Laura when the soldiers shunned her at the dance. This is the first film I have seen of Robert Young outside of TV shows.
shareOne of the best films ever released. I will always remember it. Love it.
shareI completely agree. It's such incredible movie. One of the best classics and favorites.
shareOur society is so incredibly caught up in the external, what someone has, does, or has accomplished. This small little film made out of thousands tells a deeper and more beautiful story than ever told before or since. Everyone should see this film once in their life, and hopefully more than once.
shareAgreed. An exquisitely delicate story that could so easily have gone wrong, but does everything just right. I wish there were more films like it today.
