The Song

This film uses the song, "I can't believe that you're in love with me," almost like Casblanca uses "As time goes by."

Does anyone know where this song comes from? Was it a classic? Was it a standard at the time? Was it a recent hit back then? Or was it written for the movie? (I strongly doubt that.)

Also, who wrote it, and who sang the popular version (if there was one)?

"I Can't Believe That You're in Love with Me" was written in 1926 with music by Jimmy McHugh and lyrics by Clarence Gaskill. It was not originally associated with a musical play, but was a stand-alone pop song.
