Hilarious - Victoria Wood tribute

I'm very surprised to see that nobody on the board has mentioned the wonderful tribute sketch that Victoria Wood did a few years ago. People in the UK will know about it, but others may not have seen it. Watch the link below.

For those who don't know, Victoria Wood is a fantastic British TV comedienne who specialises in affectionate teasing of British life and British institutions. This is a superb example. And don't worry - its not unkind or mocking. In fact, it's so minutely-observed, you can tell she is obviously a huge fan of the film (as am I, incidentally).

And they have the refreshment room spot on.

Wonder if they did this at Carnforth?

I was there recently, and it's well worth a visit. They have a heritage centre / museum, and the refreshment room is just like in the film, although the original film scenes were not actually filmed there, but in a mock-up at Denham studios. The platform scenes were filmed at Carnforth though.

I could have sworn I posted a link to the Victoria Wood sketch -- must have been on a different board, or perhaps in a reply to a reply, etc on a different thread.

I've been to Carnforth too -- a few years back -- incidentally, right after a trip I took to the Isle of Mull where I saw the locations for "I Know Where I'm Going!" I ate at the refreshment room with my gal pal -- I was disappointed rather that there were no offerings of Banbury cakes or Bath buns on the menu -- had to settle for a scone. :-)

Yes, that was a brilliantly funny and affectionate tribute to the film.
