Time Lines

My history is a bit rusty, but I was a little confused about the time lines in the movie.

As it opened, I thought it was the commencement of WWI; then it progresses to WWII but next it seems to be back in the 30's during Prohibition...? (I thought Prohibition was in the early 30's after the crash of '29).

Can anyone clarify? Thanks!

It begins in 1914 the beginning of WW1, but America didn't enter the war until 1917. That's when Job is seen in the military uniform. It ends in the mid 1940s, since Job has been mixed up with the Nazis.

I don't know about Prohibition or when it started. But there's a scene after Job and Fanning have separated depicting the stock market crash of 1929. Fanny says 'how perfectly dreadful,' and it turns out she's talking about a hat. (LOL, just to reinforce how self absorbed she is)

I thought prohibition was in the 20s? That scene with Job and Fanny in the restaurant takes place in the early 20s, so that would make sense.

If not, it probably just got raided because the guy Fanny was with was a mobster.
