i saw the 1995 remake of this starring james belushi when i was a kid, i had no idea until now that was hbo or showtime made, it was released on vhs in my country as a regular movie, at the time i liked it but i haven't seen it for years, i remember some scenes as much more vision like brutal, but this original was very intense and what a different role for the lead, or the tank was the lead, right, might be the only time i've seen bogart without a suit and hat, i sat through this entire movie without realising lloyd bridges was in the cast, i only recognise him as an older actor in 1980's and 90's spoof comedies, in fact i didn't recognise any of the cast besides bogart, they obviously got an african to put on an accent to play the muslim, i thought it was don king, okey, he got the best gig there in the well, away from the hot sun and turmoil being able to sip the water that got around the gathering, the french part got on my patience, it was all well and forgotten by the end though when he faced the enemy, but i got a feeling they left out scenes not to show him get in the gutter with the german, who really wasted no time to order around the italian, considering the age of the movie the parts where they got to know each other was tense, the reason i got around to buy this was because i had seen a modern mainstream flick with today's... movie stars? with identical title and i just thought, right, i can't be dealing with this, i'd watch the 1995 tv movie with belushi any time even though i don't know what i'd think about it today, but this was something else.
