Atrocious Acting.
I can understand the bad acting by Jack Beutel and Jane Russell since it was their first movies roles and they only got the parts because of their looks. But Walter Huston and Thomas Mitchell were veteran actors and they acted like they never were in front of a camera before. It must have been the terrible directing by Howard Hughes.
