Jack Beutel

I picked up this film recently at Walgreens for 99 cents! The quality is not that great, but hey! 99cents! Jack Beutel was HOT! Too bad he didn't make too many more films. He coulda been a contenda!!!

I sometimes think Ricky Nelson took a real good look at Beutel's performance before he did Rio Bravo.

Oh my god, I totally got reminded of Ricky Nelson too. Both pretty boys, both not too good acting. "The Outlaw" also reminds me of Baptiste Giabiconi in his music video "Showtime." http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Fyx-sWuQwQM

Wow, he looks like him and he can't act as well - "Whatz wrong wiz you, man?" Yep, another ringer.

I think you're on to something there.

He certainly was a cute guy then.......I wonder if the "controversy" hurt him? A few movies in the early fifties - quite a few western TV guest appearances in the fifties - basically that was it.

He may have been cute, but his acting was so minimalist it wasn't actually there most of the time...

I thought at the very least he gave an adequete performance for the brooding and solitary character. I agree that Jack's performance was quite restricted (in terms of range) but I did think he was good as Billy the Kid.

I also agree that he sure was a good looking guy and I was very surprised when I checked out his CV here on IMDB. Incidentally - and irrelevantly - I think in The Outlaw, he looks a lot like football/soccer star Cristiano Ronaldo. Just thought I'd say...

I also thought he was good in The Outlaw. Strange he didn't get more opportunity though. He served his country in the Navy during WW2.
I saw him in the Maverick episode he was in the other night and it wasn't much of a part or at least you would have expected more for him. Strange.
